Olivier Giroud Breaks Down AC Milan’s Approach to Containing Kylian Mbappé

Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan will meet on Wednesday for the first of two straight UEFA Champions League matches. Securing favorable results in these back-to-back contests will give a club a clear path to the knockout stages.

As a result, the Serie A side needs to put together a game plan that stops Kylian Mbappé, considering the 24-year-old has found his scoring touch over his last few games in all competitions. Mbappé had gone four straight matches without scoring a goal.

However, the Italian club might be ready to install an anti-Mbappé plan to ensure that the Frenchman isn’t the reason that PSG secures the win.

“We’re well aware of PSG’s attacking strength,” Olivier Giroud told Canal Plus. “The 3 [and] 4 [players] in attack are talented. We will have to be wary of everyone but, of course, Kylian in particular. I think that several of us will defend against him, that’s for sure.”

PSG wants to get back on track in the Champions League after their lopsided 4-1 loss to Newcastle United on Matchday 2. Luis Enrique’s squad is currently in second place, so they want to maintain that position after Wednesday.

Will AC Milan’s plan work? It will be interesting to find out.
