Paris Saint-Germain loanee Xavi Simons is part of the 2023 Kopa Trophy nomination group. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappé is among the candidates nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or. As a result, there could be some hardware coming to PSG.
The Kopa Trophy is presented to the best-performing player under 21 by France Football, so it’s a significant accomplishment for Simons.
So, who’s joining Simons to win the honor? The 20-year-old joins Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Pedri, Gavi, Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Balde, Antonio Silva, Jamal Musiala, and Elye Wahi in vying for the award.

Last season, while at PSV Eindhoven, the midfielder scored 22 goals and registered 12 assists in 48 games. Additionally, in four games on his loan stint with RB Leipzig, Simons has two goals and three assists.
Meanwhile, Mbappé could be a strong candidate for the Ballon d‘Or; however, it doesn’t seem as though the Frenchman will lift the honor.

The trophy will likely go to Lionel Messi for winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup or possibly Erling Haaland for playing his part in Manchester City winning the 2023 UEFA Champions League.
