Why PSG-Juventus Swap That Included Vlahovic and Donnarumma Failed, Report Reveals

Paris Saint-Germain was in the market for a striker this summer transfer window. Various names surfaced, including Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, before the capital club ended up with Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani.

TuttoMercatoWeb reports that the Serie A giants were keen on making a deal with the Ligue 1 giants for the Serbian goal-scorer. According to the Italian media outlet, Juventus wanted goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Donnarumma is often criticized for his abilities while playing the ball at his feet. Still, the Italian international is a quality goalkeeper that PSG doesn’t seem keen on moving yet.

However, Juventus faced two significant hurdles in landing the 2020 UEFA Euro winner. The Italian side argued that Vlahovic’s transfer value was higher than Donnarumma’s, requiring an additional fee to adjust the equation, but the French champions were unwilling to pay.

Additionally, The Old Lady cannot afford the 24-year-old’s €12 million per season salary, which is the second hurdle.

As a result, these two reasons prevented the swap deal between Donnarumma and Vlahovic from taking off. So, by the end of the transfer session, each player remained at their respective club.
