Sunderland Gambles on Another PSG Youth Player with Latest Transfer – Report

Paris Saint-Germain is moving players in these last few hours of the summer transfer window. One of the players on the way out and has no future in the French capital is Timothée Pembélé.

Considering the new arrivals, the defender won’t see any playing time should he remain with PSG. As a result, the Frenchman is heading to England to continue his career.

L’Equipe reports (h/t Canal Supporters) that Pembélé will be moving to Championship side Sunderland. The 20-year-old will leave the capital club permanently and join the English club on a long-term contract.

This transfer isn’t the first time Sunderland gambled on a talent from PSG’s youth system. Last summer, they welcomed Édouard Michut on loan. While the Ligue 1 side produces quality players from their academy, they cannot keep them all, and so these players have to look for greener pastures.

Pembélé looks to be a vital piece to Sunderland’s defense as the club battles for promotion to the Premier League next season.
