Kylian Mbappé has long been linked to Real Madrid, and over the last two summers, there has been no move to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Nonetheless, with reports that the La Liga side might have a Plan B, could this be the 24-year-old’s last chance to join them?
Defensa Central reveals that Mbappé knows that next summer could be his last to join Real Madrid. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is playing this 2023-24 season on an expiring contract, as he will become a free agent in 2024.
“The player wanted to come to Real Madrid this summer, but Paris Saint-Germain’s exit conditions did not fit with his or those of the merengue club,” the Spanish media outlet wrote. “Next year, he may have the last chance, and he is aware of it.”
Los Blancos can begin contract talks with the forward in January over a pre-contract that starts on July 1, 2024. Still, those conversations won’t lead to an agreement that becomes public as Mbappé wants to focus on this campaign, so the rumors and gossip will continue.
“The footballer, at this time, does not want to comment on his future,” the outlet added. “He prefers to focus exclusively on this season, both at the club and national team level.
“He does not want the soap opera to be present again throughout the season, interfering in the performance of his teams and in all the press conferences of his coaches and teammates.”
What will end up occurring? Who knows at this point, considering the rollercoaster ride this saga has taken over the last couple of years.
