Report Reveals Why Marcus Thuram Turned Down PSG for Inter Milan

Paris Saint-Germain was in the market for a striker this summer, as Kylian Mbappé has no desire to be the No. 9. As a result, the capital club needed to find one, and a name linked to the French side was Marcus Thuram.

Thuram was the ideal candidate since the Frenchman was a free agent after his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach expired. PSG had cornered the free agent market, signing Milan Škriniar and Marco Asensio.

While the Ligue 1 giants were in the mix, the 26-year-old signed a five-year contract with Inter Milan instead. Spanish media outlet Relevo revealed why Thuram opted to head to Italy rather than return to France.

According to Relevo (h/t Sempre Inter), Thuram initially desired to join PSG if Julian Nagelsmann was selected as the coach. However, when it became apparent that this wouldn’t happen, he ultimately decided against joining the French champions.

Therefore, the forward decided to join Serie A and received strong interest from Inter and AC Milan. The Nerazzurri would eventually be the team Thuram chose to continue his career.
