Neymar Opens Up About Tough Times with Messi While at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain revamped their attack this summer transfer window. The capital club said goodbye to Lionel Messi, who left as a free agent. Meanwhile, Neymar Jr. was sold to Al-Hilal for a reported €90 million.

Since Messi’s exit, the Argentine has been vocal about his time in the French capital. The 36-year-old noted how unhappy he was during his two seasons with PSG.

Furthermore, Neymar came to his former teammate’s defense and echoed how miserable the former FC Barcelona star was. The new Al-Hilal signing stated all this during an interview with Brazilian outlet O Globo

“I was very happy for him, for his season, even if he knew everything,” Neymar said. “He went to heaven with Argentina. He went through hell in Paris; we went through hell, him and me.

“We’re doing our best, we’re champions, we’re trying to write history… that’s why he and I were playing together again, to write history. But Unfortunately, we did not succeed.”

It’s clear that PSG had to hit the reset button and decided to hold onto Kylian Mbappé despite their rocky relationship this summer. Additionally, the Ligue 1 giants moved more toward adding more French talent.

With the additions of Lucas Hernandez, Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani, and Bradley Barcola, PSG has players who have a connection with the country joining Mbappé.

As for Messi and Neymar, maybe time will heal all wounds, but don’t expect either to be at the Parc des Princes anytime soon.
