Mbappé Joins Arsenal, Real Madrid Legend In Impressive Champions League Stat

Kylian Mbappé entered an elite French goal-scoring category after Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund. The 24-year-old opened the scoring for the UEFA Champions League Matchday 1 contest on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappé’s penalty kick goal gave PSG a 1-0 lead and put him among the top French goal-scorers in Champions League history. OptaJean pointed out that Mbappé has now scored 35 goals for PSG in the UEFA Champions League.

Furthermore, the statistical account notes that this milestone levels the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner with Thierry Henry at Arsenal. Only former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema (78) has scored more goals for a specific team in the competition by a Frenchman.

PSG hopes that Mbappé continues this goal-scoring pace as the capital club looks to get back to the top of Ligue 1. Furthermore, the French giants will need the winger when they head to St. James’ Park and face Newcastle United.

A win against the Premier League club could allow them to separate themselves from the Magpies. The English side registered one point after a 0-0 draw against AC Milan on Tuesday at San Siro.
