Luis Enrique Receives High Praise from Marquinhos at PSG Helm

Luis Enrique is a handful of matches into his tenure as Paris Saint-Germain manager. The capital club is off to a slow start with eight points out of a possible 15. Now, PSG will begin their UEFA Champions League quest with Borussia Dortmund in town for Matchday 1.

After a couple of months under the Spanish tactician, Marquinhos spoke about his experience with Enrique. The Brazilian had high praise for the 53-year-old and the mentality he’s brought to the French club.

“When he arrived, he showed that he has great ambition,” Marquinhos told reporters (h/t Paris Fans). “He wants to bring the best he has so that each player progresses. This is what he wants every day. He has a lot of ideas and concepts.

“He gives us a lot of possibilities in a match, of tactics. It also gives freedom for players to express themselves. I love working with a coach like that, who has a lot to bring. He deserves to be there.”

Enrique will now have his most significant test of this 2023-24 season: to get PSG out of the Group of Death. The Parisians will face against AC Milan, Dortmund, and Newcastle United. As a result, all eyes will be on the former FC Barcelona boss to navigate these matchups.

It will be interesting to see if this slow start to the season is just a speed bump and if Enrique gets his squad back on track beginning Tuesday night.
