Paris Saint-Germain picked up a 4-0 win over Olympique de Marseille on Sunday at the Parc des Princes. Furthermore, the capital club secured the three points, with Kylian Mbappé missing most of the match.
The 24-year-old left the contest midway through the first half. While PSG was up 1-0 as the 2018 FIFA World Cup exited the game, the Ligue 1 giants would score three more goals for the lopsided win.
After the win, manager Luis Enrique spoke with Amazon Prime Video and provided an update on Mbappé’s injury. Ahead of their UEFA Champions League match against Newcastle United on Oct. 4 at St. James’ Park.
“It’s not a very serious problem, but it was painful,” Erinque told the French media outlet (h/t Culture PSG). “It would have been smarter to leave the field to protect yourself. But I don’t think it matters. It was a blow, and everything is fine in the end.”
With Mbappé injured, the capital club could count on their offensive depth next week when the squad faces off against Clermont Foot next Saturday at the Gabriel Montpied Stadium.
Still, it feels like PSG caught a break and will likely have their star when facing the Premier League side next week.
