Luis Enrique Era In Effect: PSG Ahead of Barcelona, Chelsea In Impressive Team Stat

Paris Saint-Germain has a new philosophy under new manager Luis Enrique: Possession. Furthermore, when they don’t have the ball, the Spanish tactician wants the squad to retrieve it as quickly as possible.

The Enrique era is only a few games in, but the stats are already beginning to show his influence on PSG. A French statistical Twitter account, DATA’Foot, published interesting stats from the top European clubs.

One of the stats published was the possession, with PSG at the top with some distance between No. 1 and No. 2. The Ligue 1 side has a possession of 72.3 percent, with FC Barcelona right behind them at 69.3 percent and Chelsea at 66.5. Manchester City (66.0) and Arsenal (63.0).

PSG began to show their offensive potential last week when controlling the ball for most of the game. The Parisians picked up an important UEFA Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.

It will be interesting to see if PSG remains atop this stat for the entire 2023-24 season and whether it translates to more wins.
