Jose Mourinho’s Bold Take: Roma Ace’s Influence Rivals Mbappé’s

Roma star Paulo Dybala’s impact could rival that of Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappé.

The Italian club is off to a slow start in Serie A after four games with four points. Dybala has only played two matches in the league, so it explains why they have dropped points early.

Furthermore, Jose Mourinho paid tribute to Dybala’s importance to Roma following Thursday’s 2-1 win over Sheriff. The Special One acknowledged the Argentine’s influence on the Giallorossi, comparing it to the impact of a player like Mbappé.

“Paulo for us is like Bernardo Silva for City or Mbappé for PSG,” Mourinho told La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Roma Press). “He is a special player, but I can’t always use him. He needs to be managed and rested.

“With Torino, I will start him from the beginning, but maybe I will have to remove him before the end because he will also have to play in the middle of the week against Genoa.”

Mourinho recently mentioned his concern over PSG loanee Renato Sanches, who is injured again. Sanches only played 28 minutes before leaving the game due to a reported muscle injury in his right thigh.

“Renato is still at risk of injury,” Mourinho told reporters. “It’s difficult to understand. Bayern and PSG didn’t understand why, and now we are trying to understand. He rested for three days, and now he got injured again.”

The Portugal international was supposed to use his loan stint to establish himself as a starter. However, if this is the trend that Sanches is taking, then it will be hard to imagine Roma playing to him enough to trigger any clauses that obligate them to buy the player.
