How Barcelona Has Benefited from Ousmane Dembélé’s Exit

When Paris Saint-Germain landed Ousmane Dembélé after triggering his release clause, many assumed he’d hit the ground running alongside Kylian Mbappé. However, seeing the best from the 26-year-old has been a slow process, and there are some road bumps.

Furthermore, there were questions over how Barcelona would replace the Frenchman, and Fichajes notes that the exit has helped the Spanish side considering the young player who has flourished.

“Despite the fact that some were upset with his departure to Paris, Ousmane Dembélé’s goodbye has been remarkably productive for FC Barcelona,” Ficjahes wrote

“The departure of the 26-year-old Frenchman has opened the door for Lamine Yamal, who has become one of the great sensations of this start of the season, and despite his youth, he is even a national team player. The culés are walking with a firm step and are second in the League after Real Madrid, also showing notable solidity and good play.”

PSG hopes Dembélé can break out of this funk to start his tenure in the French capital. Furthermore, it couldn’t come at a better time, considering on Tuesday, the Ligue 1 giants welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Parc des Princes.

Maybe playing against his old team and playing in the UEFA Champions League could motivate the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to have a breakout game. Furthermore, it would also quiet down any critics Dembélé faces after Friday’s 3-2 loss to OGC Nice.

  1. Inconsistency. No top-level player is inconsistent, certainly not one who should be playing for Barca. Good riddance.
