Fabian Ruiz Gives Honest Take on PSG Squad Before Match vs. Newcastle

Paris Saint-Germain secured impressive wins last week over Borussia Dortmund and Olympique de Marseille. So, it seemed that Luis Enrique and Co. were moving in the right direction. However, that’s not the case.

The capital club drew 0-0 against Clermont Foot, who is currently battling relegation. It’s a result that shouldn’t have happened, but now the Ligue 1 giants will need to bounce back this week at St. James’ Park.

Ahead of the Matchday 2 UEFA Champions League against Newcastle United, midfielder Fabian Ruiz expects a better PSG squad when facing the Premier League club.

“We played against a good Clermont team, it was difficult and we didn’t manage to score any goals,” Ruiz told Prime Video postgame (h/t Foot Mercato). “We need to correct this before an important match in the Champions League. We have to analyze our mistakes and do better to score on our chances.”

It will be interesting to see if the Spanish manager can get the PSG squad to show the form they consistently displayed against Dortmund and Marseille. The Parisians have dropped points domestically, so there are warts to their game.

Whether they can fix over these next few days and pick up an impressive win over Newcastle will remain to be seen.
