Paris Saint-Germain loanee Xavi Simons is thriving with RB Leipzig this 2023-24 season. After one campaign with PSV Eindhoven, the 20-year-old returned to the French capital. Then, he was quickly loaned to the German club.
The Netherlands international is taking the Bundesliga by storm, scoring three goals and registering four assists. Additionally, with Simons continuing his upward trajectory, many PSG supporters are excited about the youngsters’ future.
Simon’s first significant domestic test comes on Saturday when Leipzig hosts Bayern Munich. Ahead of the match, Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel recalled from his time at PSG a young Simons who he saw had great potential.
“I had him [at PSG] as a very young youth player and it was clear that he had a lot of potential,” Tuchel said. “[Simons] made it to the national team through the Dutch league.
“He is having a very good phase. He has a clear position, which is helping him. He is technically strong, calm on the ball, and good in front of goal. We have to make sure we stop him”

If Simons puts on a show against Bayern Munich, it will only continue to show he’s ready for the big-time matches. Nonetheless, PSG fans will need to follow Leipzig along this season to see how the young player performs.
Furthermore, if the Netherlands qualifies for the 2024 UEFA Euro, this could be the stage for a coming out party at the international level.
