Paris Saint-Germain picked up a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in Tuesday’s Matchday 1 of the UEFA Champions League at the Parc des Princes. Mats Hummels has issues with the penalty award that led to the first PSG goal.
After a scoreless first half, the capital club opened the scoring off a penalty kick from Kylian Mbappé. However, the controversy now stems from the handball call from the referee.
Hummels didn’t wait long to show his displeasure over the call as the veteran defender went on Twitter postgame.
“Bad performance from us with a deserved win for PSG,” Hummels wrote on Twitter. “Still the ref didnt help today, a lot of bad decisions like the penalty call. So them and us have to improve for the second game.”

PSG took care of business at home, which all these clubs need to do with such competitive clubs like AC Milan, Dortmund, and Newcastle United. Unlike the French giants, the Italian team could not secure three points at San Siro after a 0-0 draw against the Magpies.
Luis Enrique and Co. will head to St. James’ Park on Oct. 4 when Matchday 2 of the Champions League occurs. They’ll be hoping to steal one or all three points from Newcastle and maintain their lead atop the group.
