Kylian Mbappé decided this summer not to trigger his option to extend his contract until 2025. As a result, many assumed that his time at Paris Saint-Germain was ending. However, the situation took a sudden twist.
After the transfer of Neymar Jr. to Al-Hilal last week, the 24-year-old returned to first-team training. Furthermore, there are now reports of a possible extension with the French giants.
So what changed? Mbappé appeared destined to wind down his contract or leave this summer. PSG even had him training with the players who aren’t part of manager Luis Enrique’s project.
RMC Sports’ Jérôme Rothen believes that the Spanish coach was crucial in reinstating the 2018 FIFA World Cup champion into the team.
“We are lucky to have a coach who wants to make them work and wants to put his ideas in place without having his hands tied,” Rothen said on Rothen s’enflamme Monday.
“There was warming in the speech between Nasser and Kylian Mbappé, but there was also intervention from Luis Enrique. I am convinced the coach also stepped up because he had the shoulders to ensure and assume this post.

“He does not want to pay for the stories of the past. He put his little grain of salt by saying: ‘Listen, try to arrange, on one side as on the other, but Kylian Mbappé, his place is at PSG.’ “
El Chiringuito host Josep Pedrerol recently revealed the latest regarding the Mbappé saga. He notes that there’s only one way that the Frenchman can join Los Blancos this summer. Pedrerol notes that it all lies on the PSG star on whether he moves to Real Madrid.
“The only way Kylian Mbappé can join Real Madrid this summer is if he speaks to PSG and gets the letter of freedom,” Pedrerol said. “It is difficult, but not impossible.”
