Ousmane Dembélé is hours away from joining Paris Saint-Germain, as the final details must be hashed out. Nonetheless, the primary question concerning the transfer is: why the sudden exit?

Spanish media outlet AS reports that Dembélé told manager Xavi Hernandez that he wants to win trophies, which the 26-year-old has done with the Catalan club. However, the Frenchman wants to win in a healthy environment.

According to the information, Dembélé disclosed his unhappiness with some aspects of the club. Furthermore, he felt several people at Camp Nou attempted to sabotage him, although he declined to name names.

The Frenchman has also emphasized to Xavi that money is not the driving factor behind his decision to join PSG. Although, the move back to France will see the winger almost triple his current salary.

Nonetheless, Dembélé notes a perceived lack of confidence in him from club bosses. Still, he did state to the Barcelona manager his gratitude for the way he had been “impeccably” treated by Xavi, who gave him his full support during the worst period of his career “when everyone thought [he] was dead.”
