PSG Excludes Kylian Mbappé from Opening Ligue 1 Clash Amid Real Madrid Links – Report

Paris Saint-Germain isn’t bluffing with their stance regarding Kylian Mbappé not having a future in the French capital. The 24-year-old isn’t with the squad on their summer tour in Asia and is training with players who PSG will want to move on from.

As the opening match against FC Lorient nears on Aug. 12, AS’ Andrés Onrubia reports, citing sources, that PSG has no plans to have Mbappé in the squad for the opening Ligue 1 game.

The decision comes after the 24-year-old forward chose not to activate his option to extend his contract with the club until 2025. This move has left PSG with no choice but to consider selling the young superstar this summer to avoid the risk of losing him as a free agent next year.

Real Madrid, a long-time admirer of Mbappé, has emerged as the frontrunner to land the French sensation. The Spanish giants have closely monitored the situation and are keen on securing his services as soon as possible.

Mbappé’s future could be settled in the coming weeks as the summer transfer window nears its end. Nonetheless, if he decides to stay for his final season, it will be interesting to see if PSG chooses not to play him.
