Mbappé Transfer: Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti Shuts Door on Last-Minute Bid Rumors

All the rumors of a last-minute bid from Real Madrid could now be chalked up as a lot of smoke and mirrors. If the Spanish club hopes to have Kylian Mbappé, it won’t be this summer transfer window.

Nonetheless, the Mbappé saga will now spill into the 2023-24 season. Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Real Madrid’s transfer window is over. As a result, their current squad is what they’ll go with for the first half of the campaign.

“100 percent there will be no new signings,” Ancelotti said. “It’s over, the team is complete.”

With no bid from Los Blancos, the 24-year-old will stay with Paris Saint-Germain and now approach free agency next summer. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s contract expires in June 2024 after opting not to trigger the option to extend his contract.

This telenovela will now end in one of two ways: Mbappé walks for free, which Real Madrid wants. The other is signing a contract extension, meaning the La Liga side will need to pay a transfer fee, something they would likely not want to do.

If you thought this saga was over, it’s only hitting the halfway point.
