Real Madrid is taking a gamble by not pursuing Kylian Mbappé this summer transfer window. The Spanish club lost Karim Benzema left in June to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
Already needing a striker, despite the arrival of Joselu, now Real Madrid has to temporarily replace Vinícius Júnior. Los Blancos lost the Brazilian to a thigh injury, so now the question is whether the Spanish giants will change their tone on Mbappé.
Alvaro Benito Villar, who collaborates with Spanish outlets Diario AS and El Larguero, stated why Mbappé can only replace Vinícius.
“Vinicius is irreplaceable,” Villar said. “He is unique in the world because of his characteristics. Only Mbappé can be close at the level of repeating his physical efforts. We’ll see who Ancelotti chooses, I’m not sure.”

Now, will this translate to a last-minute bid from Real Madrid? According to a report, they intend to stand firm on their stance that their window is closed. As a result, it doesn’t seem the Frenchman will head to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Real Madrid likely will gamble here to wait to see if they can land the player as a free agent. Nonetheless, it could cost them here, too, if the squad cannot replace the production left behind by Vinícius.
