The Neymar Jr. transfer saga continues to hoover around Paris Saint-Germain. The capital club begins their 2023-24 Ligue 1 season Saturday, and there’s doubt that he’ll stay.
While the 31-year-old is a talent that could help the capital club this season, especially with no Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, they won’t force him to stay if he wants out.
Relevo’s Matteo Moretto reports that, unlike his tenure at FC Barcelona, Luis Enrique’s relationship with Neymar has evolved, impacting his approach to the current situation.
🚨🗣️| @MatteMoretto: “For Luis Enrique, the Neymar issue is not like when he was at Barça. If he finds a way out, he will NOT stop it, they have a different relationship from the past. Luis Enrique wants players who want to compete & take care of themselves on a physical level.” pic.twitter.com/5pW2UssYaJ

Moretto adds that if a solution for Neymar’s departure is reached, Enrique is unlikely to stand in the Brazilian’s way. The shift in approach reflects Enrique’s emphasis on players who demonstrate commitment to competition and maintain their physical well-being.
Furthermore, it signals the shift that PSG wants to build a team rather than rely on individual talent.
While Neymar’s father has denied any rumors of a possible exit, the speculation continues. As a result, with only a couple of weeks left in the summer transfer window, PSG might part ways.
