Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé Receive Praise for Performance in PSG’s Win vs. Lens

Paris Saint-Germain had Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé in the starting 11 for the first time this 2023-24 season in the match against RC Lens on Saturday at the Parc des Princes.

While Dembélé didn’t get on the scoring sheet, Mbappé did. The 24-year-old scored a brace to give the capital club the 3-1 win. After the match, Marco Asensio and manager Luis Enrique praised the play of the two stars’ performance against Lens.

Asensio played the false No. 9 role, so he had a front seat to the performance. Furthermore, the former Real Madrid player even scored his first goal to open up the scoring against Lens.

“It’s clear,” Asensio said (h/t Culture PSG). “They are very important players for the team. They very often make the difference. We get along very well, and we hope it will continue that way.”

Meanwhile, Enrique credited the two players for bringing a quality performance and praised their teammates for allowing them to shine.

“All coaches want top players like Kylian and Ousmane,” Enrique said (h/t Culture PSG). “It’s thanks to them, but also thanks to Asensio, Warren [Zaire-Emery], Marquinhos, Vitinha, [Milan] Skriniar, of all. We are a team with big goals.”

PSG will look to carry this momentum on the road and head into the international break on a positive note. The capital club will face Olympique Lyonnais next Sunday at the Groupama Stadium.
