Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United Had This PSG Target as Plan B for Striker Role

Paris Saint-Germain nears finding their No. 9 for the foreseeable future. According to reports, the capital club is close to signing SL Benfica’s Gonçalo Ramos. However, the French giants nearly faced competition for the Portuguese star.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Ramos was Manchester United’s Plan B had they not secured Rasmus Højlund. The Danish talent was also on PSG’s radar.

Nonetheless, now that the Red Devils have their No. 1 choice, the Ligue 1 champions are wrapping up their top target too.

As PSG progresses towards securing Ramos’ signature, it’s clear that the club’s sporting advisor, Luis Campos, has had his eyes on the Portuguese talent for quite some time.

Reports indicate that Campos had already expressed interest in acquiring Ramos a year ago. As a result, it could explain why PSG moved swiftly to seize the opportunity to sign the promising young striker.

The impending deal is expected to be completed for an €80 million package, showcasing PSG’s intent to secure the services of the highly-rated forward.
