Neymar Jr.’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has become a topic of intense speculation. Reports suggest the 31-year-old expressed a desire to return to FC Barcelona.
However, Neymar’s father denied these claims, emphasizing his commitment to PSG. While Premier League clubs were initially rumored to be interested, Standard Sport (h/t Paris Fans) reports that Chelsea is not pursuing Neymar.
Instead, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen on bolstering the squad with young talents. Despite already having coached the Brazilian during their time at PSG, the Argentine prefers other profiles.
The capital club is open to selling the player this summer transfer window. Nonetheless, if Neymar does go, he’ll likely have to take a pay cut. Only a few clubs can afford to pay his current wages.
Furthermore, Neymar’s former agent, André Cury, believes that if the forward wants out of PSG, he cannot take his current salary with him. As a result, the player must decide whether the wages are that important.
“Neymar earns a lot of money and I don’t know if there will be a club that can pay him,” Cury said. “To leave, he must lower his salary.
“Today, I don’t see anyone who can pay him what he earns, only clubs in Saudi Arabia. Today the Barcelona option is unfeasible because they can’t afford to pay it.”
