The much-discussed potential transfer of Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid faces a significant hurdle. The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana reported on Monday that the 24-year-old’s loyalty bonus is the roadblock.
While both clubs are keen on striking a deal, finding a satisfactory arrangement that satisfies all parties involved—Real Madrid, Mbappé, and PSG—has proven challenging.
The Frenchman’s loyalty bonus is reportedly €70 million (pre-tax), so Mbappé doesn’t want to leave that money on the table.
Ce qui bloque tout, est la prime de fidélité de Kylian Mbappé, c’est le seul obstacle. Il faut trouver un arrangement entre les trois parties (Real – Mbappé – PSG) mais certains disent que cet obstacle est insurmontable.

Cortegana even suggests this obstacle may be insurmountable, casting doubt on the French forward’s desired move to the Spanish capital.
The Spanish giants have been vocal about their interest in acquiring Mbappé, widely regarded as one of the brightest talents in world football.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of the French forward aligns with their ambition to bolster their attacking options and reinforce their squad with marquee signings.
However, the challenge lies in reaching a mutually beneficial agreement that satisfies all parties involved. It will be interesting to see whether all these three parties will find common ground or if this saga falls by the wayside this summer.
