Celta Vigo’s sporting director, Juan Carlos Calero, made it clear they have no intention of parting ways with their promising young midfielder, Gabri Veiga.
“Gabri Veiga is not for sale, we are counting on the player,” Calero said (h/t RMC Sport). “He is on vacation after the Euro U21. We don’t know what will happen by the end of the transfer window, but he is enthusiastic for next season.

“I have the intuition that big clubs want him. He will have options. There has been a lot of interest since his explosion, but there is no offer. He is believed to have had a brilliant season, it is not easy for a first season, but the transfer window will dictate what happens for his future.”
Calero’s statement comes in response to reported interest from European heavyweights Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in acquiring the services of the talented Spanish player.
Chelsea and PSG were reportedly considering triggering his €40 million release clause. However, with the remarks made by Calero and Veiga’s openness to remaining at Celta Vigo, it seems this file could cool off soon.
While PSG manager Luis Enrique is a notable fan of the 21-year-old and sporting advisor Luis Campos works for the Spanish club, it wasn’t enough to tilt a possible transfer in the capital club’s favor.
Veiga has been attracting attention with his performances at Celta Vigo, capturing the interest of top European clubs. As a result, both clubs will have to look at other targets if they want to improve their midfield this summer.
