PSG Should Want This Real Madrid Midfielder in Mbappé Transfer, Journalist Says

Paris Saint-Germain could be looking for a midfielder this summer transfer window. Marco Verratti might go to Al-Hilal as the Saudi Arabia club is keen on the 30-year-old.

The Ligue 1 side has no intention of accepting the €30 million offer from Al-Hilal. Furthermore, PSG likely has a deadline for the Saudi Arabian club to develop a better proposal.

In his latest PSG Talk column, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson wrote about possible candidates to replace Verratti should he leave. Johnson notes that the Ligue 1 champions could use the Kylian Mbappé transfer saga to their advantage.

One midfielder that would be an ideal replacement is Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni. Johnson says the former AS Monaco star’s tough start with Los Blancos could be a way for PSG to swoop in a potential Mbappé transfer.

“Assuming that Mbappe remains in play for the coming weeks, then Verratti’s replacement could actually be the Real Madrid man,” Johnson wrote. “Tchouameni was a target for PSG before he left Ligue 1, and Mbappe was unable to persuade him to stay in France at the time.

“The former Monaco man has not had an easy start to life at Santiago Bernabeu but is keen to stay on beyond this summer. In order to land long-term target Mbappe, Real might be willing to sacrifice one of their midfield gems, of which Tchouameni would be the most enticing.”

It will be interesting to see whether Real Madrid puts in a player to lower the transfer fee price. Nonetheless, this all depends on whether Al-Hilal comes with a better offer for Verratti. If the Saudi Arabia club’s bid doesn’t improve, this will be all for nothing.
