Discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and their star forward, Kylian Mbappé, have hit an impasse. The capital club doesn’t want the 24-year-old to leave as a free agent. However, the Frenchman has all the power.
L’Equipe reported on Tuesday that PSG is keen on preventing the Frenchman from leaving on a free transfer next summer. Nonetheless, Mbappé has already decided to depart in 2024, with Real Madrid being his likely destination.

The Ligue 1 side has the stance of telling the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to extend or be sold. Still, the PSG star has a loyalty bonus he wants to take advantage of.
If Mbappé decides he doesn’t want to leave this summer, the French giants may see him go for nothing. The allure of playing for the Spanish giants and the opportunity to play for a club he grew up rooting for.
This uncertain situation has put both PSG and Mbappé in a difficult position. If they cannot extend their star to sell him next summer, the club will be in dire economic ramifications.
PSG had committed then to FFP to include Mbappé’s salary and bonuses in the club’s accounts. In return, they planned to sell the forward to even it out. A free departure could put PSG in a complicated financial situation.
