After spending several successful seasons at Real Madrid, Asensio expressed his desire for a fresh challenge and a new chapter in his career. He also noted PSG’s ambitious project and their vision for the future was instrumental in his decision.
“It’s a privilege to be part of this great club that is PSG,” Asensio told the website (h/t Paris Fans). “I look forward to joining my new teammates and working with them to achieve great goals.
“Why this choice? Because Paris is a big club, with a big project, an attractive and ambitious project. And then, it corresponds to what I needed: a change of environment but still with an ambitious project. It’s what I wanted, and I think it’s the perfect place for me to play, to have fun, and to win a lot of titles.”
The opportunity to compete for major domestic and international titles alongside some of the best talents in the game played a significant role in attracting him to the French capital.
Asensio’s departure from Real Madrid marks the end of an era for the player, who has been a part of the club since 2014.
