The future of Kylian Mbappé remains uncertain as the 24-year-old has one more year on his contract. Mbappé wants to honor the final year with Paris Saint-Germain. However, Real Madrid stays lurking in the background.
Former France international Florent Malouda believes Mbappé will remain at PSG for the 2023-24 season. Nonetheless, he also states that it’s only a matter of time before the Frenchman joins Real Madrid.
“For me, it’s only a matter of time before he ends up in Madrid,” Malouda told The Sun (h/t Foot Mercato). “He has this desire to wear the white jersey because he loved the team when he was young. “He had the opportunity to go to Real Madrid and renewed (last year), so it wouldn’t surprise me if he managed to find a deal with PSG.
“I would be very surprised if he left this summer. I think that from his point of view, everything has always been clear: He wants PSG to entrust him with a project that matches his ambitions. It’s not about the money, he’s looking for greatness and he wants to find a club that can match his talent and give him a chance to win the Champions League.”
Speculation surrounding Mbappé’s future has intensified in recent weeks. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner opted not to trigger the option to extend his contract until 2025, resulting in rumors.
Real Madrid is consistently the frontrunner to secure his signature. Although the Spanish club whiffed last year, they’re back, and this time, it seems they’ll land the player this summer or next.
If Mbappé doesn’t sign an extension or leaves this transfer window, PSG might have to accept that the player will depart as a free agent.
