Luis Enrique Faces Decision on Mbappé’s Future Amid Real Madrid Links

Luis Enrique is now in charge of Paris Saint-Germain. Furthermore, the Spanish tactician is walking into the Kylian Mbappé transfer saga.

In his column for PSG Talk, CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Johnson noted that Enrique needs to take a stance on the issue. Enrique will need to have a conversation with the 24-year-old about his project.

The 53-year-old can put a lot of responsibility on Mbappé’s shoulders for the 2023-24 season. However, if the Frenchman is thinking of his next chapter, Enrique will have to begin thinking about life after Mbappé.

“Luis Enrique did a good job in navigating the tricky topic of Kylian Mbappé’s future when he was unveiled last week,” Johnson wrote. “However, the 2015 UEFA Champions League winner will have to take a firm stance at some point very soon regarding the French superstar.

“Having a straightforward project with Mbappé front and center with potentially more responsibility than ever could be key to getting the 24-year-old to buy into what Luis Enrique is about to attempt. Equally, if the former AS Monaco man’s mind is made up, then there is little point in preparing for the new campaign with a player who does not intend to stick around for much longer—even one as talented as Mbappé.”

The uncertainty surrounding Mbappé’s future has dominated headlines, with Real Madrid consistently touted as a potential destination for the French superstar. Reports suggest that Mbappé is keen on joining the Spanish giants and is willing to leave PSG as a free agent to wear the famous white jersey.

As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on Enrique and his handling of the Mbappé saga.
