The future of Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé has been the subject of much speculation over the last few hours. The Frenchman’s release clause is at €50 million until July 31; afterward, it goes up to €100 million.
Despite Paris Saint-Germain being linked with the 26-year-old, it doesn’t appear that the winger is heading home. L’Equipe shed some light on the situation, stating that no imminent departure from Barcelona is planned according to specific sources close to the player.
The French media outlet notes that sources have refuted rumors of an imminent exit and affirmed that Dembélé’s current focus remains on his commitment to the Catalan club.

Nonetheless, sources close to Dembélé say that PSG has approached the player. As a result, it indicates their interest in bringing him to the French capital.
Additionally, Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG focuses on Dembélé by activating contacts to trigger the €50 million release clause. However, Romano notes that nothing is done yet, and a move to PSG depends on Dembélé.

An interest in the Frenchman should lead PSG to believe he would be the ideal Kylian Mbappé replacement. The 24-year-old has an uncertain future and is unlikely to play this 2023–24 season should he remain at PSG.
It will be interesting to see whether the Ligue 1 champions ramp up their interest until the 31st or look elsewhere. Still, this rumor could have more layers over the next few days.
