Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea could be gearing up for a sequel this summer transfer window. The two clubs are reportedly in the mix for the same target for a second time.
The Guardian (h/t Canal Supporters) reported that PSG and Chelsea gear up to compete for the signature of Olympique Lyonnais’ highly touted young forward, Rayan Cherki.
PSG is undergoing a revamp of its forward group. Lionel Messi has left, and there’s the uncertain future of Kylian Mbappé. As a result, the capital club likely wants to secure the services of the talented 19-year-old.
Cherki, who burst onto the scene at a tender age, has been making waves in French football with his electrifying performances and technical prowess. The teenager’s impressive skill set, vision, and goal-scoring ability have caught the attention of top European clubs.
The Ligue 1 side beat Chelsea to win the signature for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Now the French giants will attempt to win this second go-around battle.
PSG will likely lean on playing UEFA Champions League football this season to convince Cherki to sign. Meanwhile, Chelsea, who isn’t in Europe’s top tournament, will probably use the allure of the Premier League.
It will be interesting to see which of these two clubs can lan Cherki or if there is another mystery club.
