The Ousmane Dembélé transfer saga continues to have its twists and turns. Paris Saint-Germain raced against time to trigger the €50 million release clause that likely won’t happen.
Nonetheless, it does seem FC Barcelona and PSG will begin discussions over a transfer. According to a recent report, the Spanish giants will provide a five-day window to negotiate and reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 champions on the player’s transfer.
Furthermore, The Athletic’s Pol Ballús reports that an expected deal for the Frenchman will be more than €50 million. Ballús adds that Dembélé, keen to part ways with Barcelona on favorable terms, is looking for a transfer fee agreement rather than a release clause being triggered.

Both promising performances and unfortunate injury setbacks have marked Dembélé’s time at Barcelona. However, the talent is still there and at 26 years old, the winger is about to hit his prime years.
PSG is set to lose Kylian Mbappé this summer transfer window or next year; regardless, Dembélé is a viable replacement. It’s a gamble on the French club’s end, but they likely see the reward is higher than the risk.
