Paris Saint-Germain has yet to name a new manager, but if reports are accurate, the leading candidate is former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann. Christopher Nkunku spoke about the German boss taking over PSG amid the rumors.
Nkunku, a former PSG player and youth product, spent two seasons being managed by Nagelsmann. The 25-year-old spoke at a press conference where he was asked about his ex-coach possibly taking over the Ligue 1 side.
“He is a coach who has helped me a lot to develop, focused on football, on the tactical aspect,” Nkunku told reporters (h/t Paris Fans). “He is a very demanding coach. He likes attacking football, with quite a few goals. He likes his team to create a lot of chances and find themselves in the opposing penalty area.
“We saw his good work at Bayern Munich. I am not surprised that a club like PSG is moving towards him.”
PSG has to get the coaching hiring right, considering Kylian Mbappé has one more year left on his contract and wants to compete for a UEFA Champions League trophy since Erling Haaland lifted the silverware on Saturday in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan.
If Nagelsmann is the coach for the French giants, their hiring has a seal of approval from Nkunku and they’ll hope he can be the next German boss to lead the Ligue 1 side to the Champions League final.
