Lionel Messi is on his way to joining MLS side Inter Miami and apart from the brands that are ready to chip in financially. Nonetheless, the South Florida club will fork over much money in this deal.
RMC Sport reported how much the Argentine will earn, which will be around $50 million (approximately €47 million) per contract year. Messi turned down Al-Hilal’s interest as he could have been paid much more in Saudi Arabia.
As mentioned, Apple, Adidas, and MLS helped Inter Miami lure Messi to the United States.
Regarding Apple, The Athletic reported that MLS and Apple have discussed offering Messi a stake in the earnings generated by new subscribers to MLS Season Pass, the league’s streaming package on Apple TV+.
Then, on the other side, Adidas would be ready to supply Messi with a cut of any increase in Adidas’ profits resulting from his involvement in MLS. While Messi won’t be earning as much as he could’ve by going to Saudi Arabia, the Argentine will receive a good check while also living in Miami.
