While no official announcement has been made, Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly added another player to its squad who should help on defense…if he can stay healthy.
According to Fabrizio Romano, columnist for CaughtOffside and football transfer expert, FC Bayern Munich has agreed to sell Lucas Hernández to PSG for a total package of €48-€50 million.

Romano also reports that Hernández will officially sign a contract with PSG today that will keep him at the club until 2026. The Frenchman is reportedly in Paris and Romano ads that the 27-year-old was once thought to be untouchable at Bayern, but new leadership at the German club was more open to his departure.

It’s a curious move for PSG. Hernández is still recovering from an ACL injury that forced him to miss 25 games last season for Bayern. When you consider Neymar Jr. is coming off ankle surgery and Presnel Kimpembe is still recovering from an achilies injury, you have to wonder why PSG would spend upward of €50 million for another injury-prone player.
Adding to this head-scratching transfer for PSG is the fact that Hernández was born in Marseille. Some of the PSG Ultras plan to make his welcome at the Parc des Princes not as smooth as the player would like.
If Hernández can stay healthy, this could be an excellent move for PSG, but we’ll have to wait and see.
