Lionel Messi wasn’t at Camp Nou for the farewell ceremony held for midfielder Sergio Busquets. However, the 35-year-old did offer a video that was played for his long-time teammate and friend.
Busquets will leave the Spanish club after his contract expires on June 30. Messi summarized in his video message what it was like to play with the 34-year-old for all those seasons with the Catalan side.
“I’m very sorry for not being there on this special occasion for you and your family,” Messi said in the video. “It was an honor to spend so many years with you, on and off the pitch. I love you very much.”

The two players have been linked regarding a possible reunion, as both are rumored to be targets for Al-Hilal and Inter Miami.
