The Lionel Messi era at Paris Saint-Germain will have the memories of the whistling and booing the Argentine endured during his two seasons.
Messi will officially leave the capital club when his contract expires on June 30. Afterward, the 35-year-old intends to sign with Inter Miami and continue his career in MLS.
As the Argentine’s tenure ended, Kylian Mbappé spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport, where the Messi topic surfaced. The French star gave them his view on the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner’s time in Paris.
“He’s one of greatest player in the history of football,” Mbappé told the Italian media outlet. “It’s never good news when someone like Messi leaves. I don’t quite understand why so many people were so relieved that he was gone. He didn’t get the respect he deserved in France.”
The other part of the “MNM” attack, Neymar Jr., also spoke on the former FC Barcelona star’s exit from the 2022-23 Ligue 1 champions. The Brazilian believes that going to MLS is good for Messi as the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner can shine a spotlight on the league.
It will be interesting to see how many people begin watching MLS now that arguably the best player ever will be playing there to continue his career.
