Lionel Messi Breaks Silence on PSG Future Amid Barcelona Rumors

Paris Saint-Germain has announced that Lionel Messi will leave the club after two seasons as a free agent.

“After two seasons in the French capital, Leo Messi’s adventure with Paris Saint-Germain will come to an end at the conclusion of the 2022–23 campaign,” the club wrote in a statement.

Messi also issued a statement to PSG, where he bid farewell to the club.

“I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years,” Messi said. “I wish you all the best for the future.”

Messi joined PSG during the 2021 summer transfer window as a free agent. He did not have much to go his way last season, scoring a mere 11 goals in all competitions.

Messi has turned the tide in his second season at PSG. He has chipped in with 32 goal contributions in Ligue 1 play in the ongoing campaign. The Argentine forward also recorded eight goal contributions in UEFA Champions League play earlier this season.

Messi will feature for PSG for the final time on Saturday, as he is slated to start in its Ligue 1 home fixture against Clermont Foot on matchday 38.

The attention now turns to just which club will win the Messi sweepstakes during the upcoming summer transfer window. He has been linked with a few clubs as of late, including Barcelona.
