Leandro Paredes Explains Confusion Over Messi Mistreatment at PSG

The Lionel Messi era didn’t go as planned for Paris Saint-Germain. The capital club brought the 35-year-old in hopes of winning the UEFA Champions League. However, that never occurred.

Messi was often booed and whistled during his two seasons in the French capital. One player that shared the PSG dressing room with the Argentine was Leandro Paredes. The midfielder touched on Messi’s treatment while with the Ligue 1 side.

“I don’t know, I had to spend four years in Paris and I enjoyed it a lot,” Paredes told TyC Sports. “We played important things, we were very close to winning the Champions League, but afterward, I can’t explain why the treatment and reaction towards us.”

The Argentine will officially close his chapter with PSG as he intends to sign with MLS side Inter Miami once his contract expires on June 30. Messi will be bringing plenty of attention to the league and South Florida-based club once he arrives on July 1.

Before selecting Inter Miami as his next club, Messi also had interest from FC Barcelona and Al-Hilal. Nonetheless, it seems for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner that heading to the United States was the best for him and his family so he can continue his football career.
