Kylian Mbappé Breaks Silence Over Real Madrid Rumors, PSG Gives Ultimatum

The future of Kylian Mbappé remains uncertain. The France international opted not to trigger his option to extend his contract until 2025. As a result, rumors exist that the capital club will sell the 24-year-old this summer transfer window.

Nonetheless, Mbappé did go on Twitter to state that he’s not asking to leave PSG. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner also spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport to clarify the situation.

“I didn’t ask to leave PSG or to join Real Madrid,” Mbappé told the Italian media outlet. “I just told the club that I won’t activate the option to extend the contract until June 2025. We never discussed new deal with PSG, but I’m happy to stay here next season.”

Mbappé ultimatum: Sign a new contract or be sold

Furthermore, it seems that PSG doesn’t want the discussion over a Mbappé extension to be the lingering headline throughout the 2023-24 season.

As a result, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that it seems Mbappé has a decision to make. The French giants are giving their star play two options, either sign a new contract or begin the steps for a transfer.

The forward states his desire to play for the capital club next season; however, after that, there are no other remarks from the French star.

Sporting advisor Luis Campos is attempting to build a team and Mbappé is at the center, but the Ligue 1 champions might have to pivot if they sell him. Nevertheless, it could open up even more financial flexibility if he and possibly Neymar Jr. joins Lionel Messi and exit this summer.
