Hernandez, a product of Atletico’s youth academy, made a high-profile move to Bayern Munich. The Frenchman left Spain for a reported fee of €80 million, making him one of the most expensive defenders in history.
As part of the deal, Atletico negotiated a sell-on clause. So with the center-back leaving, it entitles them to a percentage of any future transfer fee if Bayern Munich were to move on from Hernandez.
The unexpected windfall could provide Atletico Madrid with added resources to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season. Meanwhile, PSG will get their defender to improve its defense.
