Emir of Qatar to Mbappé: Extend Contract at PSG or Be Sold This Summer

The Kylian Mbappé saga continues to heat up as the Paris Saint-Germain superstar has reportedly been given an ultimatum by the man who ultimately controls the club.

According to El Chiringuito, representatives for Mbappé and the Emir of Qatar met to discuss the Frenchman’s future at PSG. In that meeting, it was relayed to Mbappé’s team that he either needs to opt into the additional year in his contract before training resumes ahead of next season, or the club will entertain offers this summer and eventually sell.

Mbappé has already notified the club that he has no intention of opting into the additional year in his current contract, but one has to assume PSG would certainly welcome Mbappé agreeing to a new contract to keep him at the club long term.

If both of those options are off the table, PSG will be forced to sell during the current transfer window or else risk losing him next summer for free.

Real Madrid will certainly be monitoring this situation closely. They’ve been after Mbappé’s signature since his time at AS Monaco, and now could be the moment when Los Blancos finally land their man.

Mbappé won’t come cheap, though. It’s been rumored that Real Madrid will go as high as €120 million in terms of a transfer fee, while PSG would be looking for upwards of €200 million.

The one thing we know for sure is this saga won’t end any time soon. Mbappé’s transfer to Real Madrid, or any club, will be complicated. That should give PSG enough time to hopefully convince the 24-year-old to stay in his home city.
