Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos wants to revamp the center-back position and create competition. The right-footed central defenders will consist of Marquinhos and Milan Škriniar. However, Kim Min-jae could be joining them.
Foot Mercato reported on Sunday that Paris Saint-Germain is in the mix for the South Korean, but the French giants face competition for Min-jae. The report notes that Chelsea and Newcastle United have joined Manchester United in the pursuit of the Napoli defender.
Over the last few weeks, it seemed Min-jae would be playing at Old Trafford. However, other clubs may see an opening to swoop in and secure the 26-year-old.
Newcastle will be playing UEFA Champions League football this coming 2023-24 season. As a result, the Magpies likely want to beef up their defense to compete domestically and internationally.
Chelsea might be a long shot as they won’t be playing in Champions League football aside from offering Min-jae the chance to play in the Premier League.
As for PSG, they’ve already bested one Premier League club, Chelsea, for Manuel Ugarte. It will be interesting to see if they can beat three clubs to convince Min-jae to head to Paris rather than going to England this summer.
