Bayern Munich Chief Breaks Silence Over Lucas Hernandez-PSG Rumors

Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly in the mix for Lucas Hernandez. The 27-year-old defender has one more year left on his current deal with Bayern Munich. As a result, the German giants have a decision to make.

After weeks of countless rumors connecting the capital club to the France international, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer broke his silence and addressed Hernandez’s situation.

“He’s an interesting player; he has a big heart on the pitch & also in the dressing room,” Hainer said. “I heard of the interest from PSG, but we want to keep him … Let’s see what will happen in summer.”

The French giants need a left-footed center-back, with Presnel Kimpembe out to start the 2023-24 season and has one year left on his contract too. While Hernandez is a quality defender, he too has dealt with injuries over the last few years which explains why some supporters are concerned.

It will be interesting to see if PSG does pursue Hernandez. The 2022-23 Ligue 1 champions reportedly want to close this file in the coming weeks along with the signing of another French international, Marcus Thuram.

Additionally, the Bayern Munich star would also check the desire to have more French talent at PSG, as many supporters likely want to see players fight for the club and know what it means to play for the capital side.
