Lionel Messi and Paris Saint-Germain wrapped up their 2022-23 season with a 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot on Saturday at the Parc des Princes.
Both parties are heading their separate ways after it was announced before the game that the Argentine is leaving the club as his contract with PSG expires on June 30.
Messi will examine his option and although FC Barcelona has yet to reportedly submit any official proposal to the Argentine for a reunion, the Spanish club remains in the mix for some. However, that might be the case.
During the celebrations in Plaça Sant Jaume for the second Barça Women’s Champions League, several fans have taken advantage of Laporta’s presence to ask about Messi’s possible arrival.
An arrival from which he no longer hides his difficulty. “It’s difficult, we’ll see,” (h/t SPORT) the Barcelona president limited himself to answering the constant and insistent questions about Messi.
In addition, he added that “those who do what they can are not obliged to do more,” making it clear that the Barça club has tried by all means to be able to count on Messi next season.
Outside of Barcelona, the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is linked to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, who reportedly had club chiefs fly to Paris, and MLS side Inter Miami. A decision from Messi could be coming in the next few days.
