Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera believes that Lionel Messi is “going to make history” during his upcoming run at Inter Miami.
Messi put an end to speculation regarding his club future on Wednesday, as he revealed that he agreed to join Inter Miami. The likes of Barcelona and Saudi Professional League side Al-Hilal were interested in signing Messi, but in the end, the Argentine forward opted to become the latest star player to take his talents to MLS.
The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder sees that Messi made a good decision with his call to join Inter Miami.
“I am very happy for him,” Herrera told TyC Sports. “Miami is a very desirable destination for him, for his family, closer to Argentina. In an emerging league, which is growing a lot, and in a country that is a world power. For him, I like that better than Saudi Arabia. I see the United States as more romantic than Arabia.
“I think he’s going to make history for Inter Miami, and I wish him the best.”
Messi will have an uphill battle right out of the gate at Inter Miami, especially as the club currently sits in 15th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
