Stunning Turn? Barcelona Not an Option for Messi as Free Agency Looms – Report

Lionel Messi has one more Ligue 1 contest before he fully examines his future. The 35-year-old will become a free agent on June 30 when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires.

While FC Barcelona awaits the green light from La Liga on their financial package, Mundo Deportivo reported on Monday that the Spanish club isn’t an option for Messi because there’s no offer.

The Argentine player has several proposals, including one from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal and other clubs that have sent it to him in the last few hours.

Furthermore, journalist Hernán Claus notes from his reporting that the Premier League, Al-Hilal and Inter Miami have appeared as options for Messi.

Meanwhile, the Spanish media notes that the veteran does not want to and cannot wait any longer and today, he has no guarantee that La Liga will green-light Barcelona’s financial package.

Additionally, he would have to wait until the club offloads players to make room on their wage bill to register Messi.

Barcelona is still pending the La Liga Treasury Plan, which has not yet had a final verdict and currently stalls the Catalan side’s summer plans. Club president Joan Laporta has been firm on his stance of wanting the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner at Camp Nou.

Nonetheless, while the Spanish club waits, Messi might decide that he can’t play that game for a second time after how it ended up for him in 2021.
